Kitchen Wrapping Dubai Guide: 9 Checks Before You Book
Kitchen wrapping Dubai guide.Start with what’s underneath.
A beautiful finish begins before the film goes on. Check your cabinets, understand the quote and plan the handover—before you book a wrapping job.
Kitchen wrapping is best considered as a finish change for sound cabinets. It does not repair a leaking sink, swollen board or a layout that no longer works. Start with the substrate, then the exact film and measured scope. For a rental, agree the finish and reinstatement expectations with the owner before booking.
Can your kitchen take a wrap?
Answer seven practical questions. Get a checklist to discuss at the site visit—no sign-up, photograph upload or price guesswork.
Your kitchen, your next step.
0 of 7 answeredThe nine checks that make a quote useful.
Use these against any quotation, including ours. Take photographs of the awkward details, not just the wide kitchen view.
| Check | What to look for / ask | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 01The board underneath | Look at the underside of sink doors and the bottom corners. Photograph swelling, soft edges or a recurring leak. | Fix the cause first. A decorative finish cannot restore a damaged board. |
| 02The existing coating | Check for loose laminate, lifting paint, old film and grease around handles. Ask for a small adhesion assessment. | The new finish relies on the layer underneath. Agree any removal, cleaning or repair before pricing. |
| 03Profiles, returns and grain | Flat doors, deep grooves and curved edges need different detailing. Include end panels, plinths and door returns in the measurement. | Record where seams are acceptable and how wood grain should run across adjacent doors. |
| 04Heat and splash zones | Identify the hob, oven, kettle steam path, dishwasher and sink joints. Check appliance instructions and the selected film data. | “Heat resistant” is not permission for direct flame, hot cookware or constant standing water. |
| 05The exact film specification | Ask for brand, reference code, physical sample and the applicable technical sheet. View the sample in daylight and under kitchen lights. | A brand name alone does not identify the finish, application limits or warranty you are buying. |
| 06The measured scope | List each door, drawer, visible side, filler and plinth. Mark whether backs, interiors and handles are included. | Two “whole kitchen” quotations may cover different surfaces. |
| 07Permission and access | If rented, get the owner’s agreement on the finish and reinstatement. Confirm access, work hours, lift booking and any approval route. | A landlord’s consent, a building work pass and an authority permit serve different purposes. |
| 08The written quotation | Separate film, waste, labour, preparation, hardware, removal, access costs and applicable VAT. Record how variations are approved. | Compare the same measured scope before comparing totals. Use the service-page calculator only as a planning starting point. |
| 09Handover and care | Agree the inspection list, cleaning instructions, defect reporting contact and separate film/installation warranty terms. | Check the finish and open every door before signing off. |

What are you actually paying for?
This guide explains a quotation. The separate service page holds our budgeting assumptions, dated supplier checks and installed-cost calculator.
| Quote line | Get this in writing | The comparison trap |
|---|---|---|
| Film supply | Exact manufacturer, code, roll width and selected selling length | A product title may describe a full roll while the price belongs to a shorter selected option. |
| Cutting allowance | Measured face area plus the allowance for returns, grain matching and cutting waste | Uncut roll area is not the same as usable installed area. |
| Installation labour | Whether fitting, edge finishing, removal and refitting are included | A material-only price does not include an installer. |
| Preparation and repairs | Cleaning, removal of unstable layers, minor repairs and any replacement fronts | Do not hide a damaged-board repair inside a vague wrapping allowance. |
| Extra surfaces and hardware | Backs, interiors, end panels, plinths, hinges, handles and worktops | A worktop needs a separate suitability decision; cabinet film is not automatically suitable. |
| Access, tax and exclusions | Parking, lift or access arrangements, permitted work hours, applicable VAT and excluded work | Confirm the final payable scope and written variation process before work starts. |
12 fronts do not mean 12 m².
Twelve faces measuring 0.60 × 0.75 m each equal 5.40 m² of face area. Backs, end panels, edge returns and cutting waste are additional scope. These dimensions are an example, not a measurement of your kitchen.
Check the selected roll option.
A catalogue title and the selected selling length can differ. Confirm width, length, price basis, delivery, tax and stock in writing before converting a listing into a per-m² comparison.

Start with the property and the proposed work. Cabinet wrapping is not named as a universal exemption or permit category in the official sources below.
| Situation | What to confirm | Source / next step |
|---|---|---|
| Tenant / rented home | Agree the chosen finish, permitted work and any end-of-tenancy reinstatement with the landlord. Keep that agreement with your scope. | Dubai tenancy law, Articles 19 and 21 ↗ |
| Cabinet finish refresh | Ask how the actual scope is classified. Dubai’s 2022 rules exempt defined basic maintenance from a DM permit, subject to conditions; they do not specifically name every wrapping scenario. | Official maintenance classification ↗ |
| Building / community access | Confirm contractor entry, work hours, service-lift booking, protection and waste rules with the building or community manager. Requirements depend on the property. | Owner/building manager: obtain the current instructions for your address. |
| A larger renovation is included | If the project changes the layout, structure, gas, electrical services, plumbing or fire-safety elements, have the responsible contractor confirm the appropriate approval route. | Read our renovation approval guide → |
The official legislation is the primary reference. Confirm the current requirements with the relevant authority and property manager for your exact scope. A source link is not an endorsement or an approval of Revive Hub.
| Dubai setting | Planning priority | What to ask before booking |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai Marina / JLT apartment | Access and occupied-home planning | Ask about service-lift slots, protection of common areas, contractor entry and when the kitchen must be usable again. |
| Dubai Hills / Arabian Ranches villa | More surfaces than the door count suggests | Measure island backs, tall-unit sides, fillers and plinths. Agree whether adjacent joinery should match. |
| JVC / Discovery Gardens rental | Permission and handover records | Keep dated condition photographs and the owner’s agreed finish. Clarify whether reinstatement will be expected. |
A finish code is more useful than “premium”.
Surface + installation
Use the selected product’s installation guide for substrate preparation and application. A technique for one film or board is not automatically right for another.
Heat + cleaning
Check the intended exposure and cleaning guidance. Cover Styl cautions against putting a very hot pan directly on the coating and explains that removal depends on the underlying surface.
Warranty + documents
Request the applicable technical bulletin and warranty for the exact product and market. Keep film cover separate from the installer’s workmanship cover.
Approve a physical sample alongside the worktop, floor and lighting. A phone preview helps choose a direction; it is not a colour measurement or an adhesion test.
Walk the kitchen before you sign off.
Tick the checks as you inspect. Note any agreed snag and who will resolve it. Keep the film code, care instructions and warranty with your invoice.

Clear answers. No one-size-fits-all promises.
Is wrapping worth it if the kitchen already works?
It can be a sensible finish change when the cabinet boxes, doors and layout are sound. If the real problem is damp board, broken hardware or an unsuitable layout, identify that problem first. The readiness check helps prepare an inspection; it does not approve a surface.
Can swollen MDF or a leaking sink cabinet be wrapped?
Wrapping is not a repair for swelling or an active leak. Find and repair the cause, then have the affected boards assessed for repair or replacement before discussing a finish.
Can you wrap over old vinyl, paint or laminate?
Sometimes, but only if the existing layer is stable and the specified film system is suitable. Loose coatings, texture and contamination can compromise the result. Agree removal or preparation after an inspection rather than assuming another layer will solve it.
Are cabinet film and worktop film interchangeable?
No. A worktop has different exposure to hot pans, knives, food preparation and standing water. Request evidence that the exact product is intended for that use. Do not use a cabinet-front recommendation as approval for a worktop.
Will a wrap peel because the property is in Dubai?
The city name alone cannot predict adhesion. The board, preparation, exact film, installation conditions and exposure around sinks and appliances matter. Check local stock and the installation conditions in the manufacturer’s current instructions.
How long will the finish last?
There is no reliable universal lifespan for every film and kitchen. Ask for the selected product’s intended use and warranty conditions, the installer’s separate workmanship cover, and the exclusions for heat, water, impact or substrate failure.
Can I remove it without losing my rental deposit?
Removal and deposit outcomes cannot be guaranteed. Cover Styl notes that removal can damage paint or wallpaper, while other substrates behave differently. Obtain the landlord’s agreement and document the existing condition before fitting. The lease and actual condition at handover still matter.
Are hinges, handles, door backs and interiors included?
Only when the quotation says so. Request a marked scope showing every included face and the removal, refitting or replacement of hardware. Door fronts alone are not the whole cabinet.
Is one day a realistic programme?
A simple, prepared scope may be quicker than one involving removal, repairs or detailed profiles. Confirm the programme after the inspection and access check. The service page explains the factors behind one-day, two-day and longer planning windows.
How should I clean a wrapped cabinet?
Follow the chosen film’s instructions. Cover Styl recommends a cloth and water, preferably with a neutral-pH cleaning solution. Check compatibility before using degreasers, abrasives or disinfectants, and deal with leaks or lifting edges promptly.
Can I fit the film myself?
DIY fitting is possible for some products, but edges, profiles, preparation and unfamiliar substrates make the work less forgiving. Read the manufacturer’s installation guidance and test an appropriate sample area. Do not experiment around live services or heat sources.
Which is best: 3M DI-NOC, Bodaq or Cover Styl?
Choose the exact product for the surface and exposure, not a universal brand winner. Compare a physical sample, technical documents, local supply, installation method and warranty. The separate service page contains the brand-selection comparison and current dated price checks.
